After getting lost in the forest while collecting potion ingredients, Mavis has to embark on a mission to collect candies from the different creatures of the forest to hopefully convince the great candy corn to lead them home, all while avoiding A bloodthirsty bat. But something just doesn't seem right…

Additional Information:

The Great Candy Corn (demo) is a game solely developed by me for the 2023 spooktober visual novel game jam. It has 3 main endings, plus a random little one in the middle depending on your choices.

I wasn't able to make this demo quite as long as I had wanted, because I unfortunately suffered through some pretty severe writer's block throughout the entirety of this game jam, (lucky me) but I was able to get some of the gist of the story and concept I have for this game out there.

I'm definitely not going to abandon this project, but it's probably not going to be finished this year. I plan on trying to finish up my other game that I made for a previous game jam before I get started on this one.

I had a lot of fun on this project even if it didn't come out quite how I wanted it to. I finally got around to experimenting with drag and drop elements in renpy which was something I'd been wanting to do, so I'm happy with this project even if it isn't exactly what I envisioned it as originally. Let me know if you have any suggestions for things that could be in the finished game!

Really cute and very Halloween themed VN, the creature design ranges from very spooky to very cute, I love it, specially the candy corn and the bat.

I was expecting a regular Visual Novel but the fact that I have to answer questions and riddles about a variety of topics to progress was a pleasant surprise, as well as that drag and drop segment, even if it was small.

I did notice a few details here and there but nothing game breaking or that really bothered me, I will be waiting patiently for the full version (Maybe for next Halloween!) since the story seems interesting and I want to see the little witch bond with the bat and maybe take revenge on the Candy corn!

Keep up the good work!

Nice Halloween game! I can tell you had some fun researching the questions. :)

Thank you for making this demo!
